EAGLE X-RAY INSPECTION, FORMERLY SMITHS DETECTION PRODUCT INSPECTION
The Smiths Detection Product Inspection business focused on food x-ray inspection was acquired by METTLER TOLEDO in March 2011. The business has adopted the EAGLE brand which has been used for its products since 1998. METTLER TOLEDO is committed to constantly improving the offering and support to all customers in the food, pharmaceutical and consumer goods manufacturing industries. The EAGLE business joins the METTLER TOLEDO Product Inspection family of leading brands: Garvens, Hi-Speed, Safeline and CI-Vision.
Smiths Detection Product Inspection was formed in 1998 by a cooperative venture between a group of employees who were pioneers in the product inspection field, and the technology and financial resources of Heimann Systems Smiths Corp.
In April 2001, Product Inspection opened an office in Wiesbaden, Germany to better serve the European market. In 2003 Heimann Systems GmbH, the parent company of Product Inspection, was purchased by the Smiths Group with all divisions of Heimann Systems GmbH, including Product Inspection, officially changing names to Smiths Heimann. In September 2005, the Smiths Heimann Product Inspection Division changed its name to Smiths Detection in an effort to better convey the mission of the company - detection. To date, Smiths Detection Product Inspection has sold more than 500 X-ray units worldwide for food inspection.
Smiths Detection PID EAGLE customers will continue to benefit from excellent customer service and support for current and legacy EAGLE X-ray products.
