1. Who will be my contact partner for sales and service?

All sales and service contacts will stay the same as before the acquisition. The EAGLE business (formerly Smiths Detection PID) has an excellent team. This is one of the key reasons behind the acquisition.

2. I have an EAGLE (formerly Smiths Detection PID) machine in my plant. Will there be any changes in terms of the support I can get?

We totally understand that our customers purchase machines with the objective of operating them for many years and that machine uptime is critical. We are going to invest in strengthening our field support capability in a number of countries to ensure that all customers are supported by a market leading team. .

3. What is the impact on the EAGLE (formerly Smiths Detection PID) product portfolio? Will it become obsolete?

No. We will continue to develop new EAGLE (formerly Smiths Detection PID) products and support the installed base. We are going to strengthen the product development team in order to accelerate innovation.

4. I understand Mettler Toledo now owns two x-ray inspection brands. Which one should I chose??

Already prior to the acquisition, of the EAGLE business (formerly Smiths Detection PID), Mettler Toledo owned multiple brands within the same product arena. We believe in offering customers the choice between several market leading alternatives. We will invest in both x-ray inspection brands to ensure that both or either one of them should be an obvious choice for a customer.

5. What is Mettler Toledo’s long term plan for the EAGLE business (formerly Smiths Detection PID)?

We believe that the x-ray business has good future prospects. This is why we are going to invest in new product development, customer support and market development. The EAGLE business (formerly Smiths Detection PID) is, quite rapidly, going to be a stronger business than in the past.

6. Why did Mettler-Toledo buy the Smiths Detection Product Inspection X-ray business?

Mettler Toledo has always had the upmost of respect for the Smith’s Product Inspection X-ray team, the EAGLE business, and product portfolio, and sees the team and the products as a fantastic addition to our portfolio.
